This was the first full project in Film 1, on a human subject. I chose to do mine on my grandmother, who was in a coma at the time and died just days afterward. I will miss her for the rest of my life, and I'm not the only person who feels this way. She had an amazing effect on people that was not easily forgotten.

I always felt that her house was very much a part of who she was, so I chose to overlay photos of her onto footage of the house, as if you could still feel her presence there. I also interspersed sounds of calling her and hearing messages she'd left in the past, the last one ending with a phone forever ringing, ending in the sound I heard when she was in the coma--the soft, slow breathing from the life support machine that was the last sound she ever made. I'll miss you, Mom Mom.
