A-Wedding We Will Go

So, recently I got married (eloped on Valentine’s Day in Las Vegas with the oft-mentioned-on-here Eric Dohnert!) and when we came back and told everyone, it became apparent that we weren’t going to get away without having another ceremony for family and friends. This was fine by us, as we relished the opportunity to put on a big, artsy show, and among other handmade things that were used for the wedding, Eric designed my bridal headpiece and I made it. I’m showing it from the front and the back, so you can see the elaborate veil thing I attached to it. I wore it all evening and it was a big hit!

Putting The ‘Fun’ In Funeral

One of my best friends is studying to become a mortician, and she needed ‘help’ (aka, I did the whole thing) on a sculpture of a head that was supposed to be of someone older, so as to practice facial reconstruction. She sent me some pictures of her father (who is not dead, but does qualify as ‘older’), and so I sculpted him. Really quickly. It came out pretty well, I think!

Ribbon Doilies

After idly doing a little of this at a party with some stray ribbon, I decided the idea had some merit, and expanded upon it when I got home. The result so far is three ribbon doilies: one meant to cradle a bowl, one as a placemat, and the other as a coaster!

Installment 2 in our annual tradition of stretching ourselves too thin, Eric Dohnert and I once again created Halloween costumes, this time inspired from his sketches. We were some Visiting Alien Dignitaries.

In my quest to knit every character from Doctor Who, this time I made a knit K-9. He was fun to work on, since it’s unusual to do very angular stuffed toys in a knit medium.

Knit Dalek

Continuing my theme of knitting inspired by Doctor Who, I made a knit Dalek. He’s kind of a cuddly, baby Dalek, as his head’s bigger in relation to his body than a full-grown Dalek’s.

Christmas Ornaments

After scanning what was available in the way of Christmas ornaments this year and being disappointed, I took it upon myself to make my own Christmas ornaments. They are a chess piece, a monkey, a crab, a ballerina, a machine, a wine bottle, lasagna, and an African mask.

Doctor Who Scarves

It being a cold winter, I decided that the only appropriate thing to do was make two 20-foot-long scarves. Doctor Who Scarves, that is. One colored like the 4th Doctor’s, and the other white like Romana’s in ‘Destiny Of The Daleks’. Yes, I’m a dork. But a warm dork. (Edit From The Future: This picture is from waaaay after I made the scarves, but I think the image does them more justice. We wore them as part of our wedding outfits when we eloped in Las Vegas! Eric is wearing his in the normal style, and I’m wearing mine like a boa.)
